History of School

Vivekananda Educational Trust started 5 schools in the very needy suburban areas around Chennai.

It is our pride to say that we (MMC, Periyasekkadu) started by VET, is the third unit that came into existence in the year 1991.

Our school had a humble beginning with 55 children and three teachers in a rental thatched shed. Now it has developed into a two storied building of three blocks with 35 class rooms, well equipped laboratory, digital library, auditorium, ICT Lab and other amenities. At present the strength of our school is 945 students and 43 mentors.

Ramesh.N.Damani a Philanthropist & Prominent Businessman of Chennai has adopted and donated funds for the development of our Vidyalaya.

A new Block with 5 classrooms was built and contributed by MSRT 39 at the backyard of the main block on 18th June 2008.

With the generous contribution of the Madras Knights Round Table 181, 5 class rooms were built in the first floor of the new block behind the main block on 30th June 2011. A new Amenity block for girls was inaugurated on the 26th of August 2011. This block was constructed in association with the Madras Metro Ladies circle 70 A project undertaken by Madras South Round Table 39, clubbed with Round Table India Foundation & P.G.Shiksha together extended their helping hands to inaugurate 5 classrooms in II floor of the Main Block on 21st September 2014.
